The chain is not stationary, it easily slides through the holes. Now the chain is heavy and will dig into your shoulder if you load up the inside of the purse. If the chain had a regular strap on the top and the chain on the sides it would be perfect. I use this purse when I dress up and don’t want to carry my everyday one.
